Ctrl +Alt + Del: Tashlique at Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach (between Fulton and Lincoln), San Francisco

San Francisco

Thursday, September 5

5:00 pm

Free

Join us for our modern spin on the 600 year old Rosh Hashanah ritual called Tashlique. This custom of ridding ourselves of all our bad vuggum from the previous year and getting a fresh start for the new one is traditionally enacted by tossing bread into the ocean. For the last five years, we have reinvented this ritual, included live music, and even rebooted the spelling of the ritual (Tashlich --> Tashlique) to give it a fresh twist. Join us by the shore at Ocean Beach for a brief, engaging ritual and joyful noise accompaniment from shofar (ram’s horn) blowers and bag pipers, Ralph Carney and members of the SF Jazz Mafia and the Ministers of Sound of the Saint John Will-I-Am Coltrane African Orthodox Church. Bring stale bread to share and please bring your shofar!
