Join us for an evening dedicated to food, family, and the stories that link them together. Appealing to all the senses, this event is an opportunity to celebrate Toronto’s rich and diverse food traditions and the shared tradition of learning recipes from your grandmother.
Hosted by David Sax author of “Save the Deli.”
Featuring bubbie-inspired performances by Toronto's best storytellers, a cappella tunes by the Varsity Jews and treats by Project HaMotzi.
Co-produced by Miles Nadal JCC, Ontario Jewish Archives, Shoresh, and Reboot.

Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to be a part of this program where we will deliver food to the home-bound and get to hear their stories about the food that made them who they are.

Love your Bubbie’s matzo ball soup? Remember sitting in the kitchen while a boiling pot of soup embraced you in warmth? With the holidays coming up, now is the time to share those recipes and stories with your own children. On Nov. 24, 2014 “Cook” with your children by creating your own heaping bowl-ful of Matzo ball soup using yarn and other materials during the free hands-on Beyond Bubbie activity at Folio Books. Create recipe cards to share yummy food memories and browse a healthy selection of holiday children’s books and recipe books.

Parking: FREE two hour parking at the public lot on Watseka Avenue, with additional public parking and metered spaces within a 5-minute walk.
*Included in the price of your ticket is appetizers, dinner, dessert, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. All young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to Shabbat Out LA, a monthly Shabbat experience occurring at a variety of restaurants throughout the City. On November 15, AKASHA Restaurant hosts us for an evening filled with rustic new American cuisine. Inspired by Reboot’s Beyond Bubbe project, as well as Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, let’s utilize this Shabbat Out LA to share a favorite recipe with the group and Akasha Richmond, AKASHA Chef/Caterer and restaurant owner. Recipes will be compiled and provided to Shabbat Out LA participants via email after the event.
